+ Description

Simply Cracking Good Stories is a Newcastle University collaboration between creative writers, artists, and linguists for the production of original fiction books of up to 400 words for adults with lower levels of reading and often linguistic competence (below CEFR A1). The editors -- creative writer, Margaret Wilkinson, and second language acquisition specialist, Martha Young-Scholten -- work with creative writers on writing engaging texts that comprise short, single-clause sentences and use familiar vocabulary, and they work with artists for the images that accompany each book. The 15-book backlist is available free of charge in downloadable e-book form in English with some of the same books in Arabic, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish. New books will be made available at low price in a variety of languages. Visit http://simplystories.org/ to order books.
